Immunization Week 2015 in the Western Pacific, 24 April – 3 May 2015
We invite you to join us for the Immunization Week for the Western Pacific Region. This year's theme is: Vaccination is everyone’s job. Protect your community.
Once again, the world reaffirms its commitment to protect lives through immunization by enthusiastically supporting and participating in the World Immunization Week.
Immunization is one of the most successful and cost-effective health interventions and prevents between two and three million deaths every year globally. Immunization protects against diseases such as diphtheria, measles, pertussis (whooping cough), pneumonia, polio, rotavirus diarrhoea, rubella and tetanus. The benefits of immunization are increasingly being extended from infants to children, adolescents, adults, and older adults providing protection against life-threatening diseases such as influenza, meningitis, and cancer (cervical and liver).
Several materials are available for download - for countries who wish to make customized posters, announcements, etc. We will be uploading even more materials in the coming days leading to Immunization Week.
World Immunization Week 2015
13 March 2015 -- The World Immunization Week, which will be held from 24-30 April 2015, will signal a renewed global, regional, and national effort to accelerate action to increase awareness and demand for immunization by communities, and improve vaccination delivery services. This year’s campaign focuses on closing the immunization gap and reaching equity in immunization levels as outlined in the Global Vaccine Action Plan, which is a framework to prevent millions of deaths by 2020 through universal access to vaccines for people in all communities.
