Dr Takeshi Kasai took office as the WHO Representative in Viet Nam in March 2012. During his two-year tenure, he worked closely with the Ministry of Health to strengthen the overall health system of the country.

Dr Kasai focused much of his work on preparedness and response activities for public health emergencies including the threat of new and emerging infectious diseases such as MERS CoV and avian influenza A(H7N9).
