Immunization

The Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) is assisting Viet Nam in the routine immunization and case-based surveillance of Vaccine Preventable Diseases including polio, measles/rubella, Hemophilus Influenza type b (HepB), Japanese Encephalitis, Congenital Rubella Syndrome, in line with the global and regional goal of polio eradiation, measles elimination and HepB control in 2012.

EPI monitors vaccine handling; promotes safe injection practices; investigates adverse events following immunization from national to commune level. The EPI also provides technical assistance to strengthen vaccine quality control in the National Regulatory Authority in Viet Nam as well as provides guidance on domestic vaccine production.

    This reference book, jointly produced by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO), presents detailed statistics on the performance of national and district-level immunization systems in 194 countries and territories.
