Because of diversity of nations, areas, languages and subjects, the traditional medicine information standardization has always been difficult, thus handicapping information exchange and development. For this reason, standardization projects on traditional medicine have been undertaken in many countries. But the lack of applicable and commonly accepted information standards in traditional medicine has become a critical issue. The 1st Informal Consultation on Information Standardization on Traditional Medicine involves experts on UMLS, SNOMED, ICD-10, and MeSH. The meeting will discuss the status of medical information standardization including integration development, research methodology and experience, international collaboration and future plans.
