Traditional medicine
Traditional medicine is an ancient medical practice that existed in human societies before the application of modern science to health. It has evolved to reflect different philosophical backgrounds and cultural origins. Traditional medicine is an important form of health care for many people and is present in all countries and areas of the Western Pacific Region. The use of safe and effective traditional medicine practices and products can make an important contribution to national and individual health care and the promotion of health equity.
