Management
Management of health systems and services requires similar actions across many different settings. All programmes, projects, facilities and area health authorities, whether public or private, have to manage the following three things:
- volume and coverage of services to achieve universal access;
- inputs or resources (e.g. staff, budgets, information, drugs, supplies, equipment, buildings);
- relations with external partners (e.g. other providers, other sectors, users of services, donors).
The work of health managers is to organize and run health facilities and services to maximize access and quality for the population with minimal wastage of resources.
