Drug Resistance

Antimicrobial resistance is a global public health threat with resistant microorganisms reaching alarming levels in all six WHO Regions. Resistance occurs when microorganisms become resistant to antimicrobial medicines and the antimicrobials no longer work in treating the infection. There is a need for urgent, concerted actions with multiple stakeholders to contain antimicrobial resistance at the national, regional and global level.
