The Blue Ribbon Campaign

The Tobacco Free Initiative in the Western Pacific, though the blue ribbon campaign, proposes a mechanism for ministries of health in the Region to recognize and acknowledge the work of its partners in the implementation of Article 8 of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control and its guidelines.

Pacific tobacco taxation project

The pacific tobacco taxation project of WHO intends to provide country-level support for raising prices and taxes of tobacco to significantly impact on tobacco consumption and reduce the risks and suffering from non communicable diseases.

Surveillance and monitoring

Through surveillance and monitoring of tobacco, the WHO Tobacco Free Initiative seeks to improve the availability of surveillance data on tobacco use, exposure and related health outcomes.

World No Tobacco Day

World No Tobacco Day, which is celebrated around the world every year on May 31, was created by the Member States of WHO in 1987 to draw global attention to the tobacco epidemic and the preventable death and disease it causes.
