TB Technical Assistance Mechanism (TBTEAM) in the Western Pacific
TBTEAM in the Western Pacific Region
TBTEAM WPRO has led the process for TA Plan development by taking advantage of the Global Fund's new requirement for inclusion of TA Plans in proposals. The support has resulted in national TA Plans (going beyond Global Fund activities) in Lao PDR, Mongolia, the Philippines and Cambodia developed in close consultation with technical partners. TBTEAM focal points have also been identified within the respective National TB Programmes and will be in frequent contact with the Regional focal point at WPRO regarding TA Plan implementation. TBTEAM WPRO has developed a TA Plan Template, which has been adopted by Global TBTEAM as an example to other Regions.
Current projects:
- Monitoring the effectiveness of TA missions against Global Fund implementation and performance;
- Developing/revising national TA plans according to national priorities;
- A quarterly newsletter to showcase achievements and success stories from the countries;
- Expanding the Regional Roster of Experts.
What is TBTEAM?
Technical assistance (TA) is considered fundamental to helping national programmes implement their National Strategies and Global Fund grants. The TBTEAM, which is managed by the WHO Stop TB Department and whose secretariat is also hosted by the WHO Stop TB Department, was created by the Stop TB Partnership in 2007 to facilitate coordination of TA through advanced planning. Through this work, TBTEAM facilitates the implementation of the Regional Strategy 2011-2015, the Stop TB Strategy, achievement of the 2015 Millennium Development Goals, and enables the most effective use of Global Fund and other external resources.
