Pacific syndromic surveillance report
Week 52, ending 1 January 2017
The following syndromes have been flagged:
- Influenza-like illness: Cook Islands, Kiribati
- Diarrhoea: Federated States of Micronesia
- Vanuatu - As of 5 January 2017, there have been 4,011 suspected cases since 11 November 2016. Dengue serotype-2 was confirmed in two samples by the Institute of Environmental Science and Research Limited (ESR),New Zealand. Source: Vanuatu Ministry of Health
- Marshall Islands: As of 12 December 2016, there have been 42 confirmed cases since mid-September; three cases were identified in December. All cases have been from Majuro, the capital. Most are among pre-school or elementary-aged children; 21% of the cases are epidemiologically linked. Hepatitis A vaccine is not included in the routine childhood immunizations.
