Current programmes for RDT quality assurance
AIM: Provide capacity for quality assured RDT-based diagnosis to national programmes and other agencies, so that they can confidently address the other implementation issues necessary for RDTs to be used effectively on a broad scale.

The World Health Organization (WHO), with the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND), is;
- Conducting product testing (comparative performance evaluation of commercially-available antigen-detecting malaria rapid diagnostic tests - RDTs) based on a panel of parasites derived from a global network of collection sites,
- supporting regional lot-testing laboratories in Asia and Africa, and
- developing job-aids and training materials appropriate for village-based health workers.

Positive control wells, designed to allow village-level health workers to test RDTs in operational use in the field, are under development.
