Summary
This document explores issues related to the role public health policy plays in the prevention and control of sexually transmitted infections (STI). It is intended to help guide STI programme managers and other health professionals in: (1) evaluating the adequacy of existing public health legislation and programme policies; (2) assessing areas where improvements should be considered; and (3) designing new legislation and/or policy instruments.
