Guidelines for Dengue Surveillance and Mosquito Control, Second Edition

A detailed guide to the various measures that can be used to prevent or control outbreaks of dengue haemorrhagic fever in Western Pacific Countries. While advocating a comprehensive approach to control, the manual gives particular emphasis to vector surveillance and control, concentrating on the many simple environmental measures which individuals and communities can take to eliminate larval breeding sires, particularly in containers. Strategies for controlling adult aedes moquitoes before and during outbreaks are also described in detail. Throughout, practical experiences, backed by scientific knowledge are used to define actions that protect public health while also ensuring a judicious use of resources and a minimum risk to the environment.
