National Health Research Systems in Pacific Island Countries
This report describes the findings of mapping of health research in 15 Pacific Island
Countries. A national health research system mapping template (developed by the Council on Health Research for Development, COHRED) was adapted for structured
key informant interviews. The objective of this mapping is to provide baseline information about situation of health research systems. The report highlights significant weaknesses in governance and management of health research as well as in research policy formulation and priority setting in many of the Pacific Island Countries.
