Exercise video for the elderly launched

An exercise video for the elderly was launched during the event. The video was commissioned by DOH and WHO and developed by Strength and Conditioning, Inc, a group composed of experts and practitioners of exercise and physical activity. The video was endorsed by Dr Soe and DOH officials led by Assistant Secretary Elmer Punzalan, Assistant Secretary Enrique Tayag, and Director Janairo, to senior citizens represented by Mr Jorge Banal. Copies of the exercise video was distributed to chapters of Senior Citizens Organization after the event.

Members of the Strength and Conditioning, Inc group led the audience into a demonstration of the exercise routine in the video. Later on in his closing message, Dr Tayag also led and enjoined the participants into doing a second set of dance exercise.

World Health Day is celebrated globally on the 7th of April of every year to commemorate the birthday of WHO to generate awareness and rally stakeholders into action to address important global public health issues. This year's theme is ageing and health, with the global campaign to promote healthy ageing.

Meanwhile in a separate celebration , the AIM-Dr Stephen Zuellig Center for Asian Business Transformation launched an exhibit last April 18 , carrying the theme: Getting Older, Feeling Better. Dr Kenneth Hartigan-Go cut the ceremonial ribbon together with Ambassador Delia Domingo-Albert. The exhibit showcased various organizations which promote healthy ageing, age-friendly environment and the improvement of the well-being of the older population.

Giving a presentation on behalf of WHO Representative in the Philippines was Dr John Juliard Go, Technical Officer for NonCommunicable Diseases.
