From a vaccine store to an immunized child
The journey of a vaccine
All health units developed contingency plans to safeguard the conditions of vaccines within one hour of an unexpected power outage by mapping out the nearest health facility with generators. Vaccines are sensitive to heat, light and freezing and must be kept at the correct temperature from the time they are manufactured until they are used. WHO is supporting the purchase of additional generators for six hospitals and 18 rural health units.
