Malaria and other vector borne diseases

Malaria remains a significant public health problem in the Philippines. It is the eighth leading cause of illness in the country, affecting up to 10.2 milion people or about 12.5% of the population.

Malaria remains endemic in 57 provinces. The population at risk is 12 million people who live in hilly and mountainous remote areas of the country. These are the areas where basic health services and the right information on malaria for population at risk are difficult to reach.
