Policy and Access to Essential Medicines
Procurement and supply management
In collaboration with the National Centre for Pharmaceutical Access and Management (NCPAM - Department of Health), WHO completed a mapping and rapid assessment of the procurement and distribution system of DOH medicines.
This assessment will be the starting point for further support and to consider opportunities and options to develop a National Essential Medicines Facility (central medical store) which would take care of the procurement and distribution of medicines to public facilities.
WHO good governance for medicines (GGM) programme is developing a list of minimum standard for selection, procurement and distribution of medicines at the LGU level. It is also preparing a manual to guide and support local decision makers to comply with those standards.
