Mobile Clinic for Diagnosis of TB
The national TB programme encountered low case detection of TB cases. This is due to poor access of vulnerable and marginalized population sector to TB diagnostic services. The KIT resolved this issue with the use of a mobile clinic that provides TB diagnostic procedures such as chest X-ray and sputum microscopy. The mobile clinic is also equipped with a lift for physically challenged client, such as wheel-chair borne.
Mobile clinic personnel first collect information on the client and then take his/her Chest X-Ray. The individuals who are identified as TB suspects are required to submit sputum for microscopy. The mobile clinic can accommodate around 50 – 100 clients per day.
The mobile clinic will travel from one area to another, to perform these tests among the target population by schedule. Thus, TB suspects can gain access to TB diagnosis through a one-stop service and eventually improve case detection.
