Summary

Recognizing the issues on limited skills and competencies, as well as limited opportunities, the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for the Western Pacific, along with Japan’s National Institute of Public Health and experts, developed a five-day Regional Workshop on Strengthening Leadership and Advocacy for the Prevention and Control on Noncommunicable Diseases (LeAd-NCD). The workshop was held at the National Institute of Public Health in Saitama, Japan, from 9 to 13 December 2013 and was attended by 19 representatives of national institutes of public health and schools of public health in 9 countries of the Region.
