Cardiovascular diseases

Cardiovascular disease is caused by disorders of the heart and blood vessels, and includes coronary heart disease (heart attacks), cerebrovascular disease (stroke), raised blood pressure (hypertension), peripheral artery disease, rheumatic heart disease, congenital heart disease and heart failure. The major risk factors of cardiovascular disease are tobacco use, physical inactivity, an unhealthy diet and harmful use of alcohol.

As of 2010, health statistics show that cardiovascular diseases are the one of 5 leading causes of mortality per 100,000 populations and it has been increasing continuously. In 2000 19.2 percent of hospitalized patients were diagnosed as myocardial ischaemia, and this percent increased to 25.7 in 2004 and 26.6 in 2010, 7.4 percent increase compared to 2000. By the year of 2010, 37.7 percent of mortality of population of accounted by cardiovascular diseases, that is the leading cause of mortality (health indicators 2010).

Main cause of cardiovascular mortality is ischaemic heart disease, when it is diagnosed early and urgent management influences patient prognosis, and have socioeconomic influences.
