Lymphatic filariasis, yaws, leprosy and the other neglected tropical diseases were discussed at length. Dr Shin repeated his personal commitment – first delivered soon after he assumed his post in 2009 – to the diseases’ elimination or control. He said that the Region’s new five-year action plan serves as an essential road map. The delegates passed a resolution endorsing the action plan and asking the Regional Director to seek more international support.
