Healthy City Initiatives' implementation in Mongolia
On 24-26 January, 2013 – Darkhan and Erdenet cities – Dr J. Amarsanaa, Vice Minister of Health accompanied by Dr Soe Nyunt-U, WR Mongolia, and Vice Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city together with vice governors and representatives from 9 UB districts’ governors’ offices visited Darkhan city and Erdenet city to get introduced with healthy settings approach to promote Non-communicable diseases through implementation of the Healthy city initiatives including healthy schools and workplaces in Darkhan and Erdenent city.
The National Programme on Healthy City, district, soum, bag, workplace, school and kindergarten is supported cooperatively by MOH and WHO. These initiatives are one of the WHO’s succesful best practices model in Mongolia. Following the visit, there will be follow up meetings in UB with the local government leaders to introduce Healthy cities approaches and activities in UB and in its 9 districts.
