Universal health coverage in the Western Pacific: interviews with senior government officials
Health and finance ministers and other senior officials from five Western Pacific countries expressed their support for universal health coverage during a meeting on 18 and 19 February 2013 at WHO headquarters in Geneva. The momentum for universal health coverage is growing because it is increasingly seen as a means to boost economies and societies and to achieve equity in health care. Here, the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations Office in Geneva, the health minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the finance ministers of the Philippines and Samoa and a senior official in the health ministry of Viet Nam share their experiences of trying to provide quality health care to everyone.
