Preventing cervical cancer in Lao People's Democratic Republic

The vaccine is new to the Lao people and is given to school girls whereas many other vaccines are for babies and younger children. Therefore, with WHO support, the Lao Ministry of Health also developed specific information and education materials to teach health workers, teachers, and communities about the threat of cervical cancer and the benefits of the vaccine.
