WHO China has joined Weibo

BEIJING, 3 April 2014 – WHO China has launched its own microblog on Sina Weibo, Dr Bernhard Schwartländer, WHO Representative in China announced today. "WHO is very excited about joining China's thriving Weibo community," Dr Schwartländer said.


Cambodia reports 6th human case this year of H5N1 avian influenza

PHNOM PENH, 7 March 2014 – The case, a 6-year-old boy who died of his illness, brings to 53 the number of confirmed H5N1 human cases in Cambodia since 2005.


WHO opens public consultation on draft sugars guideline

March 2014 – WHO is launching a public consultation on its draft guideline on sugars intake. When finalized, the guideline will provide countries with recommendations on limiting the consumption of sugars to reduce public health problems like obesity and dental caries (commonly referred to as tooth decay).


WHO January 2014 update on artemisinin resistance

February 2014 – The WHO Global Malaria Programme issues regular updates about the status of artemisinin resistance in affected countries, including several in the Western Pacific Region. The updates bring together the latest findings and conclusions about the state of resistance to artemisinins, summarize WHO’s current policy and treatment recommendations, and highlight areas of concern.


Apia Outcome of the Tenth Pacific Health Ministers Meeting

6 February 2014 - The Tenth Pacific Health Ministers Meeting held in Apia, Samoa in 2013 provided an opportunity to continue to move towards the Healthy Islands vision.
