National Leprosy Programme Managers' Meeting 13 - 15 February
The Regional Office will hold a regional meeting for National Leprosy Programme Managers from 13-15 February 2012 in Manila, Philippines. The objectives of the meeting are the following:
- To review the epidemiological data and the current status of leprosy control in the Region, and identify areas for improvement to strengthen leprosy control
- To identify priority activities at subnational level focusing on highly endemic provinces and districts to further reduce the leprosy burden and achieve elimination at country level
- To introduce the new leprosy control guidelines and strengthen country-specific activities focusing on reduction of Grade-2 disability due to leprosy through early detection of leprosy cases; and
- To advocate for increased awareness in general public on the importance of reducing stigma attached to leprosy and supporting leprosy control activities through mass media
