Annual accreditation visit to national and subnational laboratories in China in 2012
27 August-6 September 2012 - WHO conducted the on-site review of WHO regional reference polio, measles and JE laboratories in China CDC for the annual accreditation during 27-29 August 2012 and of 11 provincial polio and measles/rubella laboratories in Anhui, Chongqing, Fujian, Hainan, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Inner Mongolia, Jiangsu, Xinjiang and Zhejiang provinces during 30 August -5 September 2012 in collaboration with the Health Protection Agency UK, JICA and China CDC. After the wild polio outbreak in Xinjiang, China CDC decided to introduce the new algorithm for virus isolation and real-time PCR for intratypic differentiation of polioviruses and vaccine derived polioviruses among provincial polio laboratories officially from January 2013. The findings and recommendations from the accreditation review were debriefed and discussed with MOH China and China CDC on 6 September 2012. The WHO regional reference laboratories for polio, measles and JE in China CDC, all 11 polio provincial laboratories and 10 measles provincial laboratories were fully accredited for 2013 by the review teams.
