Consultation on Measles Elimination and Hepatitis B Control
17-20 April 2012 - Manila, Philippines
The objectives of the consultation are:
- To review, discuss and agree on verification mechanisms for measles elimination
- To review and provide input into updated measles elimination guidelines and a strategic plan (2012-2020) to achieve and sustain measles elimination that will, after further consultation, be presented to the Regional Committee in 2013, and to update shorter-term national measles elimination action plans based on review of existing plans in the context of current measles elimination status
- To review and discuss moving forward from the 2012 interim hepatitis B control milestone (hepatitis B surface antigen seroprevalence of less than two per cent among children at least five years old) by establishing a target year for the control goal of achieving seroprevalence less than one per cent; this will, after further consultation, be presented to the Regional Committee in 2013
- To review and discuss the budgeted Decade of Vaccines Collaboration's Global Vaccine Action Plan and provide comments for consideration prior to presentation for endorsement and/or for potential Member State interventions at the May 2012 World Health Assembly
