Completed and endorsed by WHO's governing body in the Region in 2007 is a policy framework (akin to the Alma Ata document) that places people at the centre of care of the health system. A popular publication has likewise been prepared for launching during an advocacy forum in Tokyo on 25 November 2007.
There are four suggested domains or areas of action in the policy framework:
- Individuals, families and communities
- Health practitioners
- Healthcare organizations
- Health systems
The policy framework will provide a comprehensive, but non-exhaustive or non-prescriptive list of evidence-based policy measures across each domain.
