The Ethics Review Committee (WPRO-ERC)

In order to fulfill WPRO's responsibilities and oversee its involvement in research involving human participants, the Regional Director has established the WPRO-ERC to provide ethical review of research involving human participants supported by the Regional Office either as funder, manager, technical assistance partner or collaborator.

Standard Operating Procedures

These standard operating procedures delineate the structure, function and process (including the review criteria) to be followed by the Ethics Review Committee of the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific Region. These procedures have been approved by the Regional Director of WHO Regional Office of the Western Pacific. All the research projects involving human participants with whom the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific is involved either as funder, manager, technical assistance partner or collaborator are required to be submitted to Ethics Review Committee. The procedures describe the process of submission of research proposals, documentation required at the time of submission and the international ethical standards followed by the Committee to guide the review process
