Urbani School Health Kit
The Urbani School Health Kit is a mobile kit containing health promotion and educational resources for teachers. The Urbani Kit was named after Dr Carlo Urbani, a WHO Scientist who was champion of school-based helminth programme. He had the idea of distributing school kits containing deworming tablets and health education materials. The first contents for the Kit were developed in collaboration with the Department of Health, Philippines and WHO-Philippines and were on malaria, dengue and filaria. Current topics include (see table).
The Kit emphasizes the role of teachers in promoting health of children and considers the different health needs of children at different age-groups. It showcases important health issues, activities and resource materials for a healthy school and encourages innovative ways of teaching health and good health behaviours.
