Macao-WHO Healthy City Leadership Programme
The Regional Office initiated a 'city-to-city learning programme' supported by the Government of Macao (China) in 2012. The Macao-WHO Healthy City leadership programme promotes Healthy City activities in the Region by strengthening skills and competencies of city leaders to build healthy public policies and healthy environments. This study tour facilitates sharing of best practices among countries and scales up the country's Healthy City Programme.
The first batch of this leadership programme took place in Manila, Philippines, Macao (China) and Hong Kong (China) in May 2012. Six delegates, including Vice Mayors and Directors of the Health Department from three capital cities, namely Phnom Penh, Cambodia; Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic; and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, attended this programme.
The second batch of Macao-WHO Healthy City Programme invited 12 delegates from six cities in China to visit Macao (China), Hong Kong (China), and Busan (Republic of Korea) in November 2012.
