Summary

The writer undertook a two-year fellowship study on Microbiological and Physico-chemical analysis of on-site water supply system. It is a two-year research study leading to Master of Science Degree at the University of Wastern Sydney, Hawkesbury, in Australia. This fellowship report was written to evaluate his study plan, the quality of instruction and the administration of his fellowship. The objectives of this report are: 1) to determine how well the fellowship/study tour objectives have been met; 2) to determine the value of the fellowship/study tour to the author and the health sector; and 3) to receive feedback on the quality of administrative and study programme arrangements and institutional training and support. There were a number of activities carried out during the study period. These activities include site selection, description for rainwater tanks; bore wells and reticulated taps, collection and analysis of water samples. Also during the study, one of the sites was selected for the on-site monitoring of the water quality parameters of pH, specific electrical conductivity (uS/cm), turbidity (NTU), dissolved oxygen (DO) and total dissolved solids (TDS). The measurements of this parameter were carried out using the hydrolab water testing equipment.
