Drug Resistance

I Use Antibiotics Responsibly Pledge

WHO has identified antimicrobial resistance as a global public health threat. The rapid rise and spread of antimicrobial resistance, especially antibiotic resistance threatens our ability to treat severe bacterial infections. The achievements of modern medicine are put at risk by antimicrobial resistance.

Causes of antimicrobial resistance are:

  • Overuse and misuse of antimicrobials in humans and animals
  • Poor quality antimicrobials
  • Spread of drug resistance in health-care facilities and in the community
  • Lack of hygiene and infection prevention and control

Join the fight against antimicrobial resistance by pledging to use antibiotics responsibly and to create awareness of antibiotic resistance.
