Japan Joined WHO on 16 May 1951. It was covered by the WHO Representative Office in Taipe, China (Taiwan) from 1959 until the Office closed on 30 June 1972. Since then the responsibility over Japan was transferred to the Western Pacific Region under the Office of the Director, Programme Management.
