The safety and accessibility of drinking water are major concerns throughout the world. Health risks may arise from water contaminated with infectious agents, toxic chemicals, or radiological hazards. Improving access to safe drinking water can result in tangible improvements to health.
China has made remarkable progress in improving and protecting drinking water quality in recent years, but problems still exist. Water in both urban and rural areas is frequently affected by chemical and household pollution, water-borne diseases and water-contaminated accidents.
