Blood safety

Blood safety aims to ensure that everyone has access to blood and blood products that are as safe as possible, available at reasonable cost, adequate to meet needs, transfused only when necessary, and provided as part of a sustainable blood programme within the health care system.

Although China faces some blood shortages due to limited voluntary blood donations, the blood transfusion services are well equipped and have adequate safety, and quality monitoring laboratory capacity.
