
The Government of China will host a major event on 23rd April 2007 to mark the First United Nations Global Road Safety Week, 23rd to 29th April 2007. Participants in the ceremony will include senior offcials from the Ministries of Health, Public Security, Transport and other Ministries. This event is taking place in the context of increased government's committment and efforts to reduce the problem of road traffic injuries. Supported by all the United Nations partners like the World Health Organization, United Nations Economic Commissions, United Nations Children's Fund and other agencies, the government is poised to undertake new initiatives to address the growing problem of road trafic injuries.
