An 8 magnitude earthquake struck 92km (57 miles) north-west of Sichuan's provincial capital, Chengdu, at 2:28 PM (0628 GMT) 12 May 2008.
The quake and the aftershocks were also felt in other provinces (Yunan, Hainan, Shanghai, Henan, Hebei, and even Beijing).
