Collaboration between the School of Population Health, University of Queensland and the Nossal Institute at the University of Melbourne, Australia
The UQ-NI Research Hub combines the strengths of two research institutions with complementary expertise in the Asia Pacific region. The two institutions have a history of collaboration through the AusAID Knowledge Hubs for Health Initiative.
The two institutions contribute equally to the operation of the Research Hub, leading projects in accordance with their expertise and the type of project. The University of Queensland’s School of Population Health brings expertise in the areas of health information, vital statistics, burden of disease and health economics, and has strong links with the Pacific Islands region. The Nossal Institute contributes expertise in health financing, service delivery, and health policy, and has strong links with South Asia and South-East Asia regions.
The two institutions are part of global research networks, conducting influential research and publishing in the highest ranking journals and both have significant links with WHO and the World Bank. They have substantial experience in the development of policy briefs, and the communication of policy messages to policy makers at country and regional level.
